If you’re planning on taking the ACT in 2019 or 2020, you’re going to need to know the testing dates . . . and we’ve got them for you. (Oh, and we’ve got your SAT dates too.) The following info will help you plan your study time, register for the ACT test before the deadline, and locate your testing center – all important stuff!

ACT Testing Dates in the United States:

  • September 14, 2019
  • October 26, 2019
  • December 14, 2019
  • February 8, 2019
  • April 4, 2020
  • June 13, 2020
  • July 18, 2020

If you’re wondering, When should I register for my ACT?  the answer is easy . . .

Registration for the ACT should be completed about a month before the test date. Late registration is allowed up to a week after the registration date has passed, but you will need to pay a fee if you register late. The late registration deadline is also the deadline for submitting paperwork requesting an accommodation to the ACT.

Students in the United States can take advantage of standby testing if they fail to register for the ACT test on time or if they want to change their test date and venue for any reason. However, you will need to pay extra for a standby ticket and there is no guarantee that you will be allowed into the test room.

Have you ever flown standby? Well, this is basically the same thing, only with a test instead of a flight. Standby ticket holders are only allowed to take the ACT if there is space in the testing room and enough staff members to handle additional test-takers. What is more, standby tickets are non-refundable and cannot be used for any day or location except the date and location originally requested when obtaining the ticket.

Do you know where to go to take your ACT?

Testing centers can be found via the act.org website; however, bear in mind that there are no testing centers available in California and New York for the July 2020 ACT test. You can find testing centers near you using the ACT website's handy test center locator.
